Last week was the annual 3 day Pembrokeshire County Show and I was there every day - and Hovis came on two of the days . The first day was warm and sunny and I took loads of photos - the next two days had some rain so I didn't take as many - but I still have quite a lot so I thought a blog would be the best idea
The show is the second biggest annual Agricultural show in Wales and gets well over 100,000 visitors and there is lots to see - and buy. Its situated on the local airfield - the runways are used for parking and all flying stops for 3days except for helicopter flights, As it covers a huge area some people like to use the provided transport for travelling round the showground - a cute train!
When we walked in the Shire horse classes were just finishing - and this beautiful animal had won first prize
I then sat by the ringside and watched some of the Welsh Cob classes - my horse Megan was a Welsh Cob and they are my favourite breed.
These are some of the winners
Sec C welsh cob Stallion
Winning Sec D foal
This lovely stallion was second - he's called The Real Mccoy!
This is the eventual winning Stallion and champion Tireinon Adventure Boy
After watching the cobs we went for a walk round some of the hundreds of stalls - this crepe stall was in the food hall
There were hundreds of basketry articles for sale here!
Next we went to watch some dog agility classes - Hovis finds it fascinating !
And the small dogs like this poodle were having a go too
I sat and watched some Show Jumping while eating lunch
I watched this scary ride - but you wouldn't get me on it!
This is more my sort of ride!!
There were hundreds of agricultural machinery displays and some vintage tractors and vehicles too.
Lots of food on sale all over the showground but the only thing I bought was an icecream!
Though I nearly gave in here and bought some brownies!
I spent ages walking round the arts and crafts section. I loved this sacking and baler twine doggie!
And these veggie animals
There were lots of novelty cakes
Lots of beautiful woodwork
We had a look round the poultry section.
Then we went to watch the local Falconry display with Diego the South American Caracara. Apparently he thinks he is a dog as he lives in the house with them and will go to sleep on the carpet with the dogs in the evening !
He flew round the crowd and landed on some people's heads - thats his party trick!
I only watched a couple of the cattle classes - these are the Longhorns
This is the only thing I bought - for a friend who started off with one horse and now has somehow managed to end up with 4 !
At the end of 3 days walking round I was shattered - but I had a great time and met lots of old friends too!
